About duplex 2205 Tube
Duplex Steel 2205 tube – often called Duplex tubing – is a Duplex stainless steel with high general, localized, and stress corrosion resistance properties, high strength and outstanding impact toughness. Developed primarily to combat common corrosion problems encountered by the 300 series of stainless steels, Duplex Steel 2205 Tube is nitrogen enhanced Duplex stainless steel that is sometimes referred to as a workhorse grade because of its wide use and dependability.
Duplex Steel 2205 Tube (UNS S32305/S31803) tubing possesses pitting and crevice corrosion resistance superior to 316L or 317L austenitic stainless steels in most corrosive environments, including acidic and oxidizing solutions. Because of this corrosion resistance, Alloy 2205 tubing is often the alloy of choice in oil and gas production environments. The yield strength of Alloy 2205 tubing can be almost doubles that of other austenitic stainless steels. This fact creates a benefit and cost savings in using the Alloy 2205 tubing because less of it is needed when compared to a design involving 316L or 317L.
